New Akita hoodie dress. Who says winter has to limit you to baggy, shapeless sweatshirts, layers bunching up underneath, and jackets that make you look like a football player? This comfy dress is fully lined with sweatshirt fleece, making it so warm that I was able to go outside in sub-70 temperatures without wearing a turtleneck underneath or a down jacket on the outside. (If you know me and my tolerance for non-hot weather, you know that’s a seriously warm hoodie.)

He’s a poi dog in more senses than one. Not only is he a mutt (a cross between a Japanese Akita and some unknown purple breed), but he also looks like he’s made out of poi. Yummy.

We went to paint pottery at All in the Kiln yesterday.

In terms of layering colors, this place’s glazes are more forgiving than the glazes at most other pottery painting places I’ve been to. You can layer and layer without worrying about cracking. Too bad the studio is so far away (Walnut Creek, which is about an hour from us).
We’ll see how the finished product turns out in a week or two!

As anyone reading this has probably already figured out, Akitas are the inspiration for many HakuAi designs, so it’s always a happy day when I get to meet some in person. It turns out my neighbor has three long-haired Akitas, and since it was wonderfully warm and sunny in Belmont today, I wore my Aki dress and went out to play with them.
